My Experience Speaking at FICCI FLO Indore
There are moments in a counselor’s journey that reaffirm why we do what we do. My recent visit to Indore, as a speaker for FICCI FLO, was one such occasion—a day filled with energy, warmth, and the shared hope of building brighter futures for students and families.
When I was invited by FICCI FLO Indore to address a gathering of students, parents, and educators, I knew the conversation would be meaningful. Our session focused on the evolving landscape of higher education, the many pathways to studying abroad, and the importance of intentional college counseling. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was the collective curiosity and openness in the room.
This was a session rooted in dialogue and growth. From the very start, the atmosphere buzzed with thoughtful questions and honest engagement. We explored how shifting global policies are impacting college admissions, the nuances of profile building, and the need to create meaningful milestones along every student’s journey. I emphasized that the path to higher education is no longer linear or one-size-fits-all; it’s about discovering strengths, setting intentions, and making choices that align with each individual’s aspirations.
One of my favorite moments was leading a reflective activity designed to help students uncover their unique strengths and areas for growth. Watching young people pause, reflect, and articulate their dreams was a powerful reminder that self-discovery is at the heart of every successful application. These honest conversations—between students, parents, and educators—are what make this work so rewarding.
What stood out to me was the sense of community in the room. Parents and educators didn’t just attend; they participated, eager to support their children’s ambitions and learn how to best guide them through the complexities of higher education. This kind of engagement is vital—it transforms counseling from a transactional process into a collaborative journey.
As I shared stories and strategies from The College Tribe’s work, I was reminded of how much our community has grown. Over the past year, we have expanded not just in numbers, but in our sense of purpose. Our mission remains clear: to empower students to pursue their dreams with clarity, confidence, and heart.
On my flight back from Indore, I found myself reflecting on the conversations and the impact we had created together. The questions, the curiosity, and the courage shown by every attendee reaffirmed the importance of this work. I am deeply grateful to FICCI FLO Indore for hosting such a meaningful dialogue, and to every student and parent who showed up with open minds and open hearts.
Events like this are a testament to the power of meaningful conversation and expert guidance. They remind us that unlocking possibility, building clarity, and bringing families closer to their goals is a collective effort.
