Unison Girls World School – Workshop for TeachersSeptember 9, 2024

I had the pleasure of facilitating a workshop on letters of recommendation (LORs) earlier this week at Unison World School. It was an enriching experience, working with a group of very accomplished, enthusiastic, and curious teachers who made the session highly interactive and engaging.
During our time together, we delved into the significance of LORs in the college application process and how they can powerfully influence a student’s future opportunities. We explored various structures to follow when drafting these letters, addressing some of the common challenges teachers face in this task. Additionally, we examined several examples to better understand what makes an effective LOR, emphasising the importance of incorporating specific anecdotes to highlight a student’s unique qualities and achievements.
Boarding schools hold a special place in my heart, and it was amazing to be in such a beautiful campus to conduct this workshop. The serene and inspiring environment of Unison World School added a unique touch to our discussions. The teachers’ active participation and insightful questions made the session a dynamic learning experience for everyone involved.
This workshop reaffirmed my belief in the critical role educators play in shaping the futures of their students. Their dedication to understanding and improving the LOR writing process was truly commendable. It was a rewarding experience to support and collaborate with such passionate professionals.
I look forward to many more opportunities to engage with educators and help them empower their students to achieve their dreams.
